when and what

Open Reading

Most of us carry unread texts with us — articles saved for later, books we meant to read carefully, things that quietly follow us through the semester.
We often rush, skim, lose focus, and move on. Sometimes we even learn how to speak about a text without really having read it.

Open Reading is a course that makes room for this. It offers a weekly time and place to read. Participants bring texts from their own studies and read them during the session.
There is no requirement to speak, summarise, or demonstrate understanding. The course does not aim at coverage or discussion. It is a shared space in which reading is allowed to take the time it needs.

Who this course is for

Students who would like protected time to read, return to difficult or postponed texts, or try a different rhythm of academic work.

Who this course may not be for

Students who are looking for thematic instruction, regular discussion, or clearly defined weekly tasks.

!! no plan, we just meet Wednesdays 12-2 in the café in the Holzlaube and read !!
